At Secex, we believe that every child deserves a safe environment to grow, explore, and thrive. Schools remain one of the few institutions where parents or guardians entrust their children to the care of others—a significant and often difficult decision.
It is the responsibility of schools to provide a secure learning environment that fosters both safety and development. At Secex, we prioritize the well-being of students, teachers, and staff, which is why we have introduced Child Safety Practice 2025 (CSP25)—a voluntary initiative designed to enhance safety in schools and other childcare environments at no cost.
CSP25 serves as a framework to protect children from various forms of abuse, including bullying and inappropriate behavior, by equipping those who work with children with essential knowledge and best practices in child safety.
Developed through years of experience safeguarding children in the UK, CSP25 is the result of collaborative efforts with school leaders in Nigeria and child safety professionals in the UK. It is the first independent school auditing system in Nigeria dedicated to child safety. Our approach is not about exposing schools who fell behind but rather supporting them through free staff training and administrative resources to help them meet the CSP25 standards. These resources include effective policies and guidelines for maintaining accountability.
With increasing reports of safety incidents in schools, some with tragic consequences, we acknowledge that CSP25 is not a universal solution. However, we are confident that it will serve as a valuable support system for schools and government efforts committed to child safety.
Our vision is to foster a culture where child safety is deeply embedded in professional practice. Through our visits, we aim to drive continuous improvement, helping school leaders and childcare professionals conduct ongoing risk assessments to create safer environments. By identifying areas for improvement and recommending corrective actions, we empower schools to mitigate risks effectively.
